Parahomalonotus
Family: Homalonotidae
Era: Middle Devonian
Locality: Jbel Issoumour, Morocco
Size: 3"

Parahomalonotus-1

The Moroccans call these guys "Carrots," and I think the reason why is pretty
obvious. The armoring on these guys is really impressive, when rolled up they
probably appear as cannon balls or armadillos. Originally I thought these guys
were predators but then I noticed the tiny filters in the U-shaped dip on the
cephalon. There aren't many filter holes but this guy does appear to be a
filter-feeder.

Parahomalonotus-2

Look! It's an accordion! The beady eyes on these guys are pretty neat too.
