Dicranurus monstrusus
Family: Odontopleuridae
Era: Early Devonian
Locality: Jbel Issoumour, Morocco
Size: 2" - 5", depending on length of spines.

Dicranurus-1

Now this monster has been on the market for a few years and is very popular
among collectors! Mr. Monstrusus can get pretty big, just look at this guy! The
defense on this guy is quite strong; with over a dozen inch-long spines and a
set of strong horns. The low lying eyes eyes have thick brows which adds to the
defenses on this guy. When he's rolled up, he's got spines in every direction.
So here we come to that question again, what are the horns for? Mating displays?
Or for fighting other males during mating season? I'll stick with that
explanation.
