Fossil squids and octopi of Lebanon

Fossil Squid - 01:
This specimen is medium-large sized for the paleoctopi you usually see from Lebanon. But the preservation is pretty good, you can definitely see the ink-sack, and the gladius (pen) is very well preserved. Up close, there are soft body details: along the edges of the gladius, and the tentacles, which are folded inward. Very neat! About 11 cm in length.

Fossil Squid - 2:
Here's another squid with better tentacle and eye preservation. The odd oval at the end of the body is from a chert nodule.
Also, this piece fluoresces pretty well under UV. Measures 11 cm.
