Fossil squids and octopi of Lebanon
Fossil Squid - 01:
This specimen is medium-large sized for the paleoctopi you usually see from
Lebanon. But the preservation is pretty good, you can definitely see the
ink-sack, and the gladius (pen) is very well preserved. Up close, there are soft
body details: along the edges of the gladius, and the tentacles, which are
folded inward. Very neat! About 11 cm in length.

Here's another squid with better tentacle and eye preservation. The odd oval at
the end of the body is from a chert nodule.
Also, this piece fluoresces pretty well under UV. Measures 11 cm.
