Orthoptera: Grasshoppers and Crickets
Basically these are the critters that chirp and hop. In most of the Green
River formation, grasshopper specimens are usually found with legs missing;
probably torn off during transport.
ORT-01

A neat Cricket, notice that they haven't changed much in 42 million years.
ORT-02

Grasshopper: It has the main head and body but is missing the legs, which were
lost in transport.
ORT-03

Another legless grasshopper. There are many diptera on this piece.
ORT-04

A large well preserved cricket. Note the leg hairs. There's also a bee on this
piece as well.
Ort-05
Locust

This is one of the larger insects found at the site. It's a large locust, over 4
cm in length. Preservation is not astounding but you do have the head, body, and
wings. Also on this piece is another wing from some large insect. A lot of
diptera are caught in this mess as well.
On other piece: (Internal parasites)

This is one of the more interesting pieces, being a cricket with an internal
parasite. Follow the link above for more details.
